Designed with all of the features and amenities of most smart phones on the market, Verizon has added the Droid Eris to its line-up of must-have phones. The Droid Eris has tons of features that everyone loves to have in a phone. Of course it makes your basic phone call and can store hundreds of contacts.
The Eris comes with a pre-installed 8GB microSD card. This fabulous phone also has text, picture, and video messaging. Other phone features include speakerphone, voice recognition, and embedded ringtones.
The Droid Eris is equipped with Bluetooth version 2.0 + EDR. Along with the regular phone features, the Droid Eris also has tons of internet features. The Eris uses the Android 1.5 operating system with access to Google Experience Device as well including Google Maps, Google Talk, Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Search. This great phone makes it easy to access social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, too.

Droid is a play on the word “Android”. First, the Droid is an joint venture with Verizon Wireless and cell phone manufacturing powerhouse Motorola. Though in recent months many cell phone service providers have upgraded their network service to third generation (3G) coverage, Verizon was the first to do so. Recently Apple has been causing quite a ruckus with mobile phone application developers. Hmm, doesn’t seem like a way to nurture today’s most popular smart phone application gateway.
Besides, the iPhone doesn’t let you run applications in the background, change batteries, or host live widgets on the cell phone homepage. The days of iPhone vs. Blackberry might be over thanks to Verizon’s Droid smartphone.
