The Nokia 6700 Classic Gold Edition that I’m reviewing here is one of the latest in Nokia’s illustrious Classic line of mobile phones. Classic not in the sense that it’s an all-singing all-dancing super-phone, but in that forms the core of Nokia’s entire line-up. The Classic line has traditionally been one of Nokia’s best-selling range of phones, offering decent features at a good price.
The big features from Nokia’s flagship phones eventually find their way down to the Classic range a year or so later, so a Nokia 6700 review not only tells us about the phone itself, it’s also a good snapshot of the state of innovation in the mobile phone industry in general. The price of the Nokia 6700 is just 235 Euros ($311 or £217 at today’s rates) without subsidy – in other words, it’s a very cheap phone, so you wouldn’t ordinarily expect much in the way of features. Nokia has announced recalling of chargers of its model 7210, after it found the chargers supplied with the phones were of inferior quality. The charger exchange programme is applicable to only those who bought Nokia 7210 models after June 15, 2009.
Consumers can walk into any Nokia Care centre of Nokia Priority Dealership stores to get their chargers replaced or check whether their chargers are part of the exchange programme.
The company has however assured that the usage of the charger would not impact the safety of the phone. During a routine quality control process, it found that certain chargers manufactured by a third party supplies, the plastic covers of the chargers could come loose and separate, exposing the charger’s internal components and potentially pose an electric shock hazard.
The mobile manufacturing company released a statement on Monday, stating that only a limited number of charger model AC-3E manufactured between June 15 and August 9, 2009 are within the scope of the global exchange programme.
How to identify
Consumers can identify whether the chargers are part of the exchange programme by sending an SMS to 55555. The consumer has to key in (CHG) SPACE (the 27 digit code). The company would then get a reply on SMS informing whether the charger is included in the exchange programme. (source)

Whether it’s a smartphone, music phone, or a phone with a great camera that you’re looking for, there are so many models out there and several of them fall into very specific niches. The Nokia 5310 XpressMusic is just one of them and falls inline with the rest of the XpressMusic lineup.
With its dedicated control buttons, 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio with RDS, and stereo Bluetooth, it would be rather hard to miss that this is geared for those wanting a great cellphone with outstanding music capabilities. Nevertheless, we can’t forget about the rest of functions as this is still a cellphone at heart.
What’s in the box?
Nokia 5310 XpressMusic
860 mAH Li-Ion battery
1GB microSD card
Nokia hands-free headset with controller
MicroUSB cable
Manual
Design:
The 5310’s look is very playful and appears to be directed towards the younger users. It’s mainly decked in black and dark gray but two strips, on both side of the display, are colored. They give the phone a nice touch and there’s a choice between purple, red, and orange. Even though it’s made of plastic, it has a nice feeling to it and doesn’t slide around.
